Bees!

We have had bees a few times. They are probably one of our favorite animals on the farm. We currently don't have any right now, but we hope to get more next year. They are amazing and so unique. The things you learn about them when you have them will absolutely blow your mind. It's like watching an interesting documentary on animals and being blown away by how hardy and smart they are. One time Nate mowed our yard an accidently got some grass on their hive. We watched them carry grass blades one by one off their hive and out into the yard until that hive was clean! So amazing!
We had honey from them one time and it was the best honey you will ever eat. So pure and raised on the farm! Honey has a lot of antibacterial properties and is a great alternative for sugar in desserts and meals. If you have any questions about our bees contact us! We are happy to help.
Picture Information
In the first picture of the colony, you can see the queen bee in the middle. She is very long and a shade darker than the others. See if you can spot her!
In some of the pictures you can see the "pollen packs" that the bees carry. They range in different colors depending on what type of plant they get the pollen from!
Some of these pictures are from our first honey extraction. We only had one hive and we just did a small mesh and bucket process to extract the honey. BEST HONEY EVER!
